Last night on Judge Jeanine’s show on Fox News, Rev. Franklin Graham made an argument that we hear at least once during every tragedy or crisis. When asked by Judge Jeannine why God would allow this happen Rev. Graham said, “…man has turned his back on God. We have sinned against him and we need to ask for God’s forgiveness.”
Franklin Graham says people are dying of the Coronavirus because man has sinned against god. He goes on to say the pandemic is happening because the world has turned its back on god. pic.twitter.com/Kejq9jzeLu— Acyn Torabi (@Acyn) April 5, 2020
I don’t normally like to disagree with Franklin Graham, but this time I have no choice. As I mentioned before, this argument is made almost everytime there is a tragedy of some sort anywhere in the world. The main problem I have with this argument is the fact that we saw a lot more pandemics and much shorter lifespans when our society was much more faithful to God. If tragedy and death are signs that God is angry with us why was he punishing our ancestors who seemed mouch more devoted to his teachings and way of life?
I believe this pandemic, like all other pandemics, is a result of God’s greatest gift to man, free will. China freely lied about their problem. Infected travelers freely traveled to the US and beyond which caused the spread as we all freely congregated in public. I think it is always important to ask God for forgiveness but it is important to note it will do almost nothing to stop the spread of COVID-19.
In my opinion, God loves us and wants us to be safe from the spread of this horrible virus. He wants us to social distance and stay away from each other. How do I know? Well God gave us the greatest documentary on planet earth just as this crisis struck. Tiger King on Netflix has provided us a reason to stay inside, a reason to talk with our friends, and a reason to be thankful for the lives many of us already have. And as usual, God’s gift to man continue…
So our friend @christie_dish listened to the podcast, @HoldingKourt and after last weeks episode decided to send us this!!!— Justin Turner (@redturn2) April 4, 2020
