Eight days ago, a Fox News poll showed President Trump making up eight points nationally against former Vice President Joe Biden and was now even. Four days ago, a Civitas poll that Trump incorrectly touted as an OANN poll showed Trump with a seven-point lead in North Carolina lead over Biden. You would think that all this good news the Trump campaign would continue you full steam ahead, but you would be wrong…
President Trump’s campaign is preparing to launch a broad effort aimed at linking Joe Biden to China, after concluding that it would be more politically effective than defending or promoting Trump’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.The Washington Post
Tying Biden to China at this time is probably not a bad idea. However, in order for it to be fully effective Trump needs to toughen up on China. While most associate Trump as being tough on China he has been reluctant to criticize China or Xi Jinping worried such language could derail the phase one trade deal.
President Trump is going to have to make a choice with this new election strategy. Does he want to save his trade deal with China or does he want to save his re-election chances? I’m not sure he’s going to be able to do both.
