Yesterday, for some bizarre reason, Twitter decided to fact check one of President Trump’s tweets on absentee voting,
The move, which escalates tensions between Washington and Silicon Valley in an election year, was made in response to two Trump tweets over the past 24 hours. The tweets falsely claimed that mail-in ballots are fraudulent. Twitter’s label says, “Get the facts about mail-in ballots,” and redirects users to news articles about Trump’s unsubstantiated claim.

Twitter does a lot of dumb things, but this could be the dumbest. Jason Willick at the Wall Street Journal I think sums it up best,
One problem is Twitter is now implicitly endorsing content they *don’t* flag.

Whitlock is 100% correct. Before his absentee ballot tweet, Trump went on a rant essentially accusing Joe Scarborough of murdering an intern 20 years ago. So Twitter fact checks his absentee ballot tweet but not the Joe Scarborough one? This is only going to get them in more trouble with the groups they are trying to appease. They should rethink this and quick,
FYI: Some one tell Jack Dorsey all we really want is the ability to edit tweets. That’s it! Stop with all these other features no one is asking for. Just let us edit our tweets and you will be in all our good graces once again
